Jolivet liked to tell that he posed
as a model for the painter Poulbot who created the well-known
"Montmartre kid" (1914).
At thirteen, Jolivet already adores
books (1918).
Schoolboys' uniforms were formal: stiff
collar and tie were compulsory (about 1919).
His one ambition was to become a member
of the Comédie française. With this goal in mind,
he built his own theatre (Le Mariage forcé, June
1924).
